We paid the toll and showed passports to cross the border and be able to eat here. We were so glad we did! My husband had The Hangover (3 eggs, 3 meats, toast, potatoes, two pancakes). Excellent. I had the MBC French Toast (maple bacon cheddar). It's been a few hours now and I'm coming out of my food coma. It was delicious, and a very large portion (3 slices). Great find.
Great food! Here is my partly eaten food. Omelette with spinach squash mushrooms and Swiss. So good!! There was also a yummy beet toast with butter :). All local ingredients from local farmers market. I strongly recommend.
Its our first time in Sault St Marie. We had a late breakfast here and im so glad we did. Their menu is unique and assorted. There's something there for everyone. My husband had the Hangover with the apple caramel crepes. I had the strawberry Belgian waffle. Everything was great. Big portions and friendly staff. Ill definitely come back to try the other items on their menu. I wish i had 3 stomachs.
for the price its good, service is slow, ive been there a few times, the crepes are delicious and well portioned. it seems to be super busy often and its small so the tables are close to each other like you're eating with a stranger.
Hubby and I enjoyed a big breakfast on a lazy sunday. I had the "make your own" omelette, which was delish & he had the patriot. So good! Won't let him choose my toppings next time. Ha!
We didn't wait long (5 minutes, or so) and our waitress was very friendly & super attentive. We will be back our next visit home!
Great service, courteous staff. If you like a good eggs benedict, you have to try their Patriotic Benny
Excellent service nice atmosphere and great food.
Awesome place; great food, service, and atmosphere!
Had the special which was an eggs benny on a jalapano corn bread. Was the best breakfast I've had in a while. Fast, friendly service and all for a great price!
Fell in love with this place already when I entered and saw the sign "Bacon makes me happy". I sitted down and looked around, found all kind of funny decorations. Ordered it's signature dish "Breakfast pig" and it's huge. Gravy on the poutine was great. 6 eggs omelet stuffed with pulled pork and ham, plus 3 pieces of back bacon on the side, I can only finish half of the whole thing.
Excellent good, option to create your own omelette or a menu full of hearty options from meats to pancakes. Would love to have this place in the states.
A bit pricey, but food was good generally, service was decent. Portions were generous.
The breakfast pig is a great place to eat, whatever time you deem breakfast is. The food is wholesome and plentiful, the environment is pleasing, and the pricing is competitive. The service can sometimes be hit-and-miss, with servers talking loudly at an adjacent table when your glass is empty, or overcharging for drinks (sometimes they charge for refills, and sometimes not). Another criticism would be the benches, which are too short for the padding behind them, making it feel like you're sitting on a low stool. Overall, it's one of sault ste marie's staples, at least for my time here.
The "Build Your Own" frittata was excellent! The amount of food included in each portion was quite filling. The kids' portions were just right. The mini waffles were a favourite of my daughter. Would definitely come back!
Great food and atmosphere.
They have large plates of excellent food. Everyone in our group (17 of us) enjoyed the experience entirely. Fast service pleasant staff made it a very enjoyable experience.
I stop in everytime we are in the Sault. Amazing place. Everything our group has had was fantastic!
What an amazing breakfast place! Creative, fun and delicious meals at reasonable prices, I loved the 5-0 and my partner is still talking about the pulled pork waffles! The owner is unassuming, but engaging when you show interest in learning more about the dream. Don't miss this and don't be afraid to try something extraordinary when you go! My only complaint is that it is so far away from where we live!!
Amazing prices, great atmosphere and good food!
A breakfast restaurant that offers some of the tastiest breakfast in the sault. If you visit here you must try the 5-O
Awesome food and super friendly service. Waiter went out of his way to make our 2yo comfortable and happy, an incredibly pleasant breakfast experience--very rare for toddler parents!!
Love the food here! I recommend the pigs in a blanket and home fry poutine, but everything I've tried has been so tasty!
Came here early Sunday morning and fueled up before a long drive. Staff were talkative, mainly with each other, and not very attentive, but the food came in reasonable time. The patriotic benny was pretty good, but I think it should have had more hollandaise in keeping with the pig theme. The Italiano is a sausage and egg breakfast made with local sausages - not bad. I had The Hangover, with bacon, sausages, ham and pancakes - a feast, for sure!
We left here pretty full and pretty content.
Fantastic and attentive servers. They move fast!! Food took a bit but coffee refills were plenty. The space was a bit too cold for comfort, even though the place was packed. Would go again for sure.
Two breakfasts there and both were great. Friendly service.
very disappointed that we couldn't stay longer and try everything on the menu! Great variety of breakfast meals. I'm glad I stopped in to try.
Had the Nutella Bacon Waffle Sandwich and enjoyed it quite thoroughly! The sweet Nutella and banana slices paired well with the savory bacon. The hash browns and pemeal were a solid side too.
My wife and I went to the Breakfast Pig for a late lunch. We got there about 2:45, so the lunch rush was gone and we had the restaurant almost entirely to ourselves. I don't know if it was just because it was February, but it was very cold inside the restaurant. At any rate, we were seated right away. First impression of the menu is that it feels limited, and I suppose in a way it is limited since it only serves breakfast offerings. But then... it's the *Breakfast* Pig... so that's to be expected? Anyway. I ordered the lumberjack breakfast: three pancakes with cheese, ham, sausage, bacon, and two fried eggs. My wife ordered a couple eggs with sourdough toast, oven fries, and peameal bacon. Since the only other diners in the restaurant had finished eating, our orders came very quickly. My wife liked the peameal bacon, but I thought it was dry. Her opinion counts more than mine, though, since she's a peameal-bacon loving Canadian and I'm merely an American expat. But we both agreed that her oven fries were either overcooked or had been left under a hot-lamp for too long because the insides were dry. Her eggs, though, were perfectly done and she really liked the toast. I wasn't sure what to expect with the lumberjack breakfast, but it didn't disappoint. The portion size was so large that it could have been divided among four diners and still be a filling breakfast. Me being who I am, I naturally took it as a challenge to see if I could eat the whole thing. It wasn't a bad experience, either: the pancakes were really good. I added syrup and ketchup, but the layers of melted cheese, different meats, deliciously runny eggs, and fluffy pancakes were already awesome on their own. The meal defeated me. I had two bites left, but I just couldn't eat them. I was hoping for a belly-defying breakfast experience, and that's what I got so, uh... mission accomplished? I ate this meal yesterday afternoon, but was so full that I didn't eat anything the rest of the day and still haven't eaten anything today and it's nearly 24 hours since the meal. So, yeah - it's quite filling. I thought that the signature dish, a six-egg omelet with all the fixings, was a bit much both in quantity (you'd die if you ate that much!) and in price (I'm not paying $24 for a six-egg omelet.) Maybe I'll go back with some friends and split the cost? Signature dish aside, I will be going back for my birthday in June: I want to try the fried chicken and waffles, which apparently is nearly as large a portion as the lumberjack meal I had. Overall? Cold interior (but that may just be the weather); somewhat limited menu; don't order the oven fries; portion sizes are enormous; and everything else was really good. Well worth a visit, though I don't know that I'd want to go during peak breakfast or lunch hours.
Fantastic "Pig" food! You won't be disappointed except with your lack of stomach. I'm a healthy eater... and I don't mean salads. Order a single plate and share it with the wife.
Stopped here for breakfast on a trip and must say it was damn good. The portions are healthy and the meals are tasty. Also best cup of coffee I have had in a while. Highly recommend this place!!!
Our extended family was in town for a family wedding and there were twelve of us to feed. My fears were that the restaurant might be too small for all of us or that the food would not be good. As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about. The restaurant is more spacious than it appears from the outside and we were comfortably seated at two tables of six each. Everyone ordered something different, the food arrived quickly, and no one was disappointed. One person in our group ordered something that the restaurant had just run out of and they were quick to let him know and then offered him a nicer alternative at no additional charge. The service was fast, professional, and friendly. They were great with refills on the drinks.
My DH and I were so impressed that later in the afternoon we went back, just the two of us, for a late lunch. What can I say, we like our breakfast food! My DH declared this to be the best breakfast restaurant food he's had in Canada - and believe me, we've had our fair share across Ontario.
One cool thing is the Omelette Sheet. You simply check off the items you want and presto - your omelette is cooked to your exact specifications.
We even went back the next morning for another great breakfast. Anytime we are back in the Soo we will definitely be back.
