The Breakfast Pig is rated 4.9 out of 5 stars, based on 94 reviews!
Our hotel came with a free breakfast, but being on vacation, we kind of overslept. So we headed out for the cute local coffee shop. Then we saw they only took cash - and we hadn't exchanged any dollars. So a quick peek on Yelp and we ended up at The Breakfast Pig. And oh my! What a find!
Don't be put off by the exterior - the interior is so charming! We had a very short wait, and were seated by friendly staff. The gal who seated us gave us pointers on the menu. Then so did our actual server. But seriously, we had a difficult time choosing. First off, we love the locally sourced mindset. You can taste the difference. We even ordered an extra side of the ham. The coffee was good and seemed never ending.
My son had the Italian Sammy (a huge crepe with fresh strawberries and bananas, drizzled with peanut butter and Nutella). My husband had The Hangover (eggs, toast, sausage, ham, bacon, French toast, and perfectly cooked potatoes). I had the Angela - named for the owner. I am going home and trying to copy this! It had those perfectly cooked potatoes, poached eggs, asparagus, mushrooms, spinach, goat cheese, and a balsamic reduction. Heavenly!
The staff was very friendly and seemed truly to enjoy being there. That says a lot about the management. There were families with kids, twenty somethings, older couples and everything in between. There was just a great vibe. What a wonderful place to start the weekend!
Your website needs the menu. This is the best place.
This little spot is a local gem! There was a short wait to get in, but worth it! Poutine Eggs Benedict? OK! Excellent selection of hot sauces as well!
When I asked around about where to get a good breakfast on a recent trip to the Soo, the unanimous answer was the Breakfast Pig. When I arrived at the restaurant on a frigid snowy morning the waiting area was full but everyone was seated pretty quickly. I don't really eat eggs so my first task was to peruse the menu for something egg-free. We ordered a mimosa and a Caesar to start. I've never had a Caesar before and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. I ultimately settled on Crazy Goat--savory crepes filled with goat cheese, spinach, roasted red pepper, caramelized onions and asparagus topped with a balsamic glaze. My husband ordered the Patriotic Benny which is just eggs benedict with peameal instead of ham. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. I didn't try the benedict but the potatoes served with it were delicious. I ordered a side of peameal because I've never tried it and I really wish this would catch on in the US. I don't know when I'll be back in the Soo but I know I'll eat breakfast at the pig!
Wow, "The Angela" with goat cheese & poached eggs on a bed of potato hash with spinach AND asparagus! and wait for it a sweet balsamic glaze. May be the most original breakfast dish I've ever seen on a menu. Service was great but long wait for a table and system they use to seat is a bit annoying.
Favorite breakfast spot in town! Warm and friendly staff and out of this world food! This is my happy place!
AMAZING breakfast. We had the seasonal waffle and the banana bread french toast. Both were de-lish! Our server was nice and friendly too.
Love it. Love it. Love it. The atmosphere is great, as is the customer service, the selection, and of course the food! Ordered the hangover with berries and cream crepes. I really pigged out, and I will definitely be coming again!!
This was an amazing place for breakfast. Generous portions of delicious food. My son really enjoyed the MBC French toast. Our server was friendly and efficient - even though she was the only one!!! I wish it was closer to home!
Excellent little funky restaurant in a Sault Saint Marie neighborhood. Food was fantastic, and the service was just right. I had the caramel and pecan french toast which was terrific, my wife had the Benny, which was eggs benedict poutine. Perfect for our first day in Canada! And it was over the top.
Only nit is that they serve water in a mason jar. When will restaurants learn that that just isn't cool! Oh well, still highly recommend this hip little breakfast place!
Fantastic breakfast joint! If you are in the area, check out this little gem of a hipster breakfast place. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and they have poutine on the menu. I mean, do you really need anything else in life?
Ok, here's a bit more if you were wondering...
-I had the chicken, mushroom, cheese, and spinach crepes and they were fabulous. The serving was huge and very filling. I do wish it came with a side though, the dish is only crepes. Potatoes would break it up the dense-ness a bit.
-My hubby had the waffles and loved them. He said they were fantastic!
-My kiddo got the kid's breakfast with the pancakes. The cakes were so fluffy and yummy. She actually ate a good bit of her food, which says a lot right there, since she is usually eats like a bird when it comes to breakfast.
-The poutine was good but it definitely did not have enough cheese, at least to what I'm used to from past poutine I've had. I'm an American, so my poutine knowledge is limited. I do have a life motto that I live my life to which is, "when in doubt, add more cheese!"
-Fun atmosphere and very lively. It's also a bit loud if you go on a crowded day. It has a hipster vibe, but it's not too in your face about it. I live in Austin, so I do know a thing or 2 about hipsters...
-The parking lot could use a little love. Lots of pot holes and is just kind of ramshackle. We went on a day when it had rained, so we just had to kind of hopscotch across the lot between the puddles.
-I also thought our server was nice when we asked what peameal was. Again, I'm American and do not have nearly enough Canadian food knowledge. I working on it though. She didn't make fun of us at all! Thanks!
-The prices are a bit on the higher side but still reasonable considering the quality of the food.
If I was in the area, I would probably eat here again. I would also recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty breakfast.
A fritatta loaded with veggies and meat- AND "side" poutine as well as a huge selection of hot sauces brought tears of joy to my eyes. Don't question whether or not you should eat here- just do it.
Love the pig! Awesome job Ange!
Recommended by staff @ Holiday Inn Express. Walking distance to a fabulous breakfast. So many great items on the menu. I ordered vegetarian eggs Benedict. Poached eggs perfect, spinach tasted fresh from garden, hollandaise sauce very light and tasty potatoes filling the plate. Choosing waffle over traditional English muffin put nice twist on this Benedict. Husband had waffles with cinnamon apples & maple syrup. Nothing left on his plate when we left. Lovely friendly waitress & staff. We're visiting but this would be go to place if we lived here.
Shut up. Sit down. Eat here.
The place is packed and the food is amazing. Chicken and waffles was perfect. I can't breathe I'm so happy.
Always great food!?
I decided to stop into this place on my way to work (I live out of town). When I pulled up, my first thoughts were "I shouldn't go there, it looks kind of sketchy." I come inside to a totally different atmosphere. Amazing farm style decorations with granite tables and decorations in good taste. Then I ordered the Nutella and bacon waffle sandwich. I could not believe how darn good it was. And it was affordable! I will come back here every time I am in the soo.
I ordered the crepes with berries and whipped cream. So delicious! My husband had eggs benedicts with home fries called Benny's. He too enjoyed his breakfast.
Waitress was wonderful!
Great food and service!
Service was awesome, very friendly. The food was so tasty. We are from BC and really enjoyed our experience yesterday. 5 oinks indeed! ?????
Friends recommended the Breakfast Pig and as my first time I was amazed at the service and the quality of the food.
just picked up my breakfast and its the best breakfast ive ever had id eat there every day if i could , and the waitress was lovely
Fantastic local restaurant with plenty of unique menu items. Fast service and meal was delicious. Stopped in as drive through Sault Ste Marie. We will definitely be back!
Great service and great food, can’t wait to visit again!
It looks like a dive of a greasy spoon diner on the outside... Huge surprise when you enter... Looks great... Friendly staff and great food... Will recommend to anyone
Very friendly greeting and service paired with top quality delicious meal! The best breakfast in town!
Breakfast was great! Big thumbs up! The food was sooo delicious! Fun, creative menu. Service was really good too. Highly recommend checking this place out.
Just had breakfast at the pig. Food was fresh and plentiful, service was fast and friendly, waitresses never stopped moving. Prices are very reasonable. Would definitely visit again if we are ever in the neighborhood.
Great atmosphere. Great service. Delicious food!! A must visit in the Soo
Amazing. All locally sourced. Meats were exceptional. We sat for almost 2 hours talking with friends we had not seen in close to 40 years. No rushing.
The food is always amazing, and the service is fantastic! I highly suggest trying The Angela!
Wish I could eat here everyday. Great service. The food is great but the unique menu is what tops it off. Like to try new things and ventured out of my comfort zone last visit and glad I did. The Mother Clucker was soooo good. A must try. Keep up the good work Ang
Very nice breakfast/brunch spot. The outside needs some work, but the inside is very clean and modern. The waitresses were very nice and welcoming. I ordered the Benny which was very very good. The hollandaise was delicious, eggs poached perfectly, and the ham was nice thick slices. It also came with a side of some very good fresh cut seasoned potatoes.
The crazy goat crêpe was crazy good! Clean, family friendly, excellent food!
Honestly this is my favorite breakfast restaurant in the Sault! The staff is great and friendly. The food second to none wouldn't change one thing about any meal I have tried. I will continue to be a repeat customer. You owe it to yourself to give them a try!
Come here really often with friends and the crepes are consistently awesome
So stoked about their commitment to local food. Being able to get well raised meat at a restaurant makes me happy dance.
It also helps that everything is delicious!
We stopped in for breakfast and it was packed! Met by hostess who offered coffee ... thank goodness! While being seated they apologized for the wait, no issues at all, we chose too. The food was super and the service was excellent. If we lived closer would definitely be back often! Was a great ending to a weekend away!
Excellent meal as always. Been several times and have never had a meal anything less than excellent. Service always friendly, my coffee always kept full and restaurant always clean.
Great to have a breakfast restaurant in town serving such quality and unique dishes.
I do miss the earlier hours. I believe originally open at 6am then 7am now 8am. Maybe open early one or two days a week? ...
What a fantastic brunch today! So delicious! We loved it. #AlgomaCulinary.
Soooo good, soooo flavourful, soooo filling! We ate huge breakfasts there yesterday & still haven’t eaten 24 hours later!! Perfect for last meal before long road trips!! Hats off to owner & staff!!
Awesome breakfast! First time in, sat down and ordered, kid you not, the breakfast was in front of me no less than a minute and was delish!
We have had so many great orders from this place! I wanted to update my review though because Angela went above and beyond for us yet again and I wanted to sing her praises. lol Thank you so much yet again for taking such great care of my staff and I on a really rough weekend. We appreciate you taking the extra little steps that end up putting excellent food into our bellies. <3 Sure are stuck with us now!
This place is amazing - excellent food and everyone is friendly. Portions are huge (not complaining lol) waitresses are on top of everything - food , coffee , cleaning up and friendly chatting. This s a great breakfast place - always great food and excellent service ???????????????????? always stop in when I'm home for a visit
Went in on new year's eve to have a birthday breakfast with my young son..he loved the food..being a picky eater..and didn't have long to wait to get in...was great food and great time to spend with my little guy.
You know a restaurant is amazing when you can’t even find a spot in the parking lot on a Saturday morning and there are Cars lined up down the road!
I need to come in again to get my “fix”! I love being able to create my own breakfast!
It just occurred to me that I haven’t reviewed this place. This may seem biased throughout if you know my relationship with this restaurant. That being said, this position gives me an insight many people may miss. As patrons, I hope you enjoy the ambience; the artwork and lighting. The staff who has always taken great care to cater to people, and let’s please humanize people who may be new to the job or may be young and at their first job, that they may make slip-ups on o...
Great breakfast. The bread was delicious. Will definitely be going back if we are in town again.
I just wanted to say thank you to Angela Caputo for surprising me with your Halloween "black waffle" creation. It was absolutely delicious! I also want to thank your staff for always taking great care of my brother and I when we come in for breakfast on Sundays. The Breakfast Pig sure knows how to treat their customers! I highly recommend everyone to sample Angela's creation, especially kids!

Every time I go here the food is amazing and so is the service. Will definitely recommend to others and will be back.
My only issue with the Pig is finding the courage to stray away from my favourites (Benny poutine/ five-oh) in order to try something new on the menu.
Delicious breakfast today and always!
Phenomenal service...super friendly people...to me it speaks a lot to the leadership @ the breakfast pig. Food is typically always very tasty. And you sure don’t leave hungry.
I love everything in that place. So many choices from Mother clucker to that massive pig out. I love that it's mostly farm to table. Buying local makes me want to bring my business there as well. Dont forget the owners a great person and role model for local small business to boot.
Food was awesome! Service was great and loved the decor! ?
The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you enter the main foyer (small waiting area), you are greeted by friendly wait staff and sat in a small but very cute and quaint dining area. I ordered the #basicbreakfast and it was to die for. The jam options they have here are absolutely decadent, I suggest the blueberry/raspberry option. Loved this little gem of a place! Will definitely be back.
The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is bright and clean with an eclectic decor. Love the array of sauces at the table to choose from. My mom enjoyed her breakfast very much, although we had to ask what peameal bacon was. Being from the US, we had no clue! It is what we would call Canadian bacon.
This place served my favorite meal of our Canada trip! House made waffles with banana slices, Nutella, and bacon; covered with real maple syrup. Also a side of potatoes. Looked gross but tasted heavenly. Mmmmm...
All amazing!!! Great place for breakfast!! Service was exceptional and check out the picture..... the best breakfast place I've ever eaten at.
I am gluten-free. Their pancakes were delicious. The sausage tasted a little different from US sausage links so I may suggest the ham or bacon. I liked the idea that the ingredients were local. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing special this morning: brown butter Poached Niagara peaches over French toast. Absolutely delicious!
We paid the toll and showed passports to cross the border and be able to eat here. We were so glad we did! My husband had The Hangover (3 eggs, 3 meats, toast, potatoes, two pancakes). Excellent. I had the MBC French Toast (maple bacon cheddar). It's been a few hours now and I'm coming out of my food coma. It was delicious, and a very large portion (3 slices). Great find.
Great food! Here is my partly eaten food. Omelette with spinach squash mushrooms and Swiss. So good!! There was also a yummy beet toast with butter :). All local ingredients from local farmers market. I strongly recommend.
Its our first time in Sault St Marie. We had a late breakfast here and im so glad we did. Their menu is unique and assorted. There's something there for everyone. My husband had the Hangover with the apple caramel crepes. I had the strawberry Belgian waffle. Everything was great. Big portions and friendly staff. Ill definitely come back to try the other items on their menu. I wish i had 3 stomachs.
for the price its good, service is slow, ive been there a few times, the crepes are delicious and well portioned. it seems to be super busy often and its small so the tables are close to each other like you're eating with a stranger.
Hubby and I enjoyed a big breakfast on a lazy sunday. I had the "make your own" omelette, which was delish & he had the patriot. So good! Won't let him choose my toppings next time. Ha!
We didn't wait long (5 minutes, or so) and our waitress was very friendly & super attentive. We will be back our next visit home!
Great service, courteous staff. If you like a good eggs benedict, you have to try their Patriotic Benny
Excellent service nice atmosphere and great food.
Awesome place; great food, service, and atmosphere!
Had the special which was an eggs benny on a jalapano corn bread. Was the best breakfast I've had in a while. Fast, friendly service and all for a great price!
Fell in love with this place already when I entered and saw the sign "Bacon makes me happy". I sitted down and looked around, found all kind of funny decorations. Ordered it's signature dish "Breakfast pig" and it's huge. Gravy on the poutine was great. 6 eggs omelet stuffed with pulled pork and ham, plus 3 pieces of back bacon on the side, I can only finish half of the whole thing.
Excellent good, option to create your own omelette or a menu full of hearty options from meats to pancakes. Would love to have this place in the states.
A bit pricey, but food was good generally, service was decent. Portions were generous.
The breakfast pig is a great place to eat, whatever time you deem breakfast is. The food is wholesome and plentiful, the environment is pleasing, and the pricing is competitive. The service can sometimes be hit-and-miss, with servers talking loudly at an adjacent table when your glass is empty, or overcharging for drinks (sometimes they charge for refills, and sometimes not). Another criticism would be the benches, which are too short for the padding behind them, making it feel like you're sitting on a low stool. Overall, it's one of sault ste marie's staples, at least for my time here.
The "Build Your Own" frittata was excellent! The amount of food included in each portion was quite filling. The kids' portions were just right. The mini waffles were a favourite of my daughter. Would definitely come back!
Great food and atmosphere.
They have large plates of excellent food. Everyone in our group (17 of us) enjoyed the experience entirely. Fast service pleasant staff made it a very enjoyable experience.
I stop in everytime we are in the Sault. Amazing place. Everything our group has had was fantastic!
What an amazing breakfast place! Creative, fun and delicious meals at reasonable prices, I loved the 5-0 and my partner is still talking about the pulled pork waffles! The owner is unassuming, but engaging when you show interest in learning more about the dream. Don't miss this and don't be afraid to try something extraordinary when you go! My only complaint is that it is so far away from where we live!!
Amazing prices, great atmosphere and good food!
A breakfast restaurant that offers some of the tastiest breakfast in the sault. If you visit here you must try the 5-O
Awesome food and super friendly service. Waiter went out of his way to make our 2yo comfortable and happy, an incredibly pleasant breakfast experience--very rare for toddler parents!!
Love the food here! I recommend the pigs in a blanket and home fry poutine, but everything I've tried has been so tasty!
Came here early Sunday morning and fueled up before a long drive. Staff were talkative, mainly with each other, and not very attentive, but the food came in reasonable time. The patriotic benny was pretty good, but I think it should have had more hollandaise in keeping with the pig theme. The Italiano is a sausage and egg breakfast made with local sausages - not bad. I had The Hangover, with bacon, sausages, ham and pancakes - a feast, for sure!
We left here pretty full and pretty content.
Fantastic and attentive servers. They move fast!! Food took a bit but coffee refills were plenty. The space was a bit too cold for comfort, even though the place was packed. Would go again for sure.
Two breakfasts there and both were great. Friendly service.
very disappointed that we couldn't stay longer and try everything on the menu! Great variety of breakfast meals. I'm glad I stopped in to try.
Had the Nutella Bacon Waffle Sandwich and enjoyed it quite thoroughly! The sweet Nutella and banana slices paired well with the savory bacon. The hash browns and pemeal were a solid side too.
My wife and I went to the Breakfast Pig for a late lunch. We got there about 2:45, so the lunch rush was gone and we had the restaurant almost entirely to ourselves. I don't know if it was just because it was February, but it was very cold inside the restaurant. At any rate, we were seated right away. First impression of the menu is that it feels limited, and I suppose in a way it is limited since it only serves breakfast offerings. But then... it's the *Breakfast* Pig... so that's to be expected? Anyway. I ordered the lumberjack breakfast: three pancakes with cheese, ham, sausage, bacon, and two fried eggs. My wife ordered a couple eggs with sourdough toast, oven fries, and peameal bacon. Since the only other diners in the restaurant had finished eating, our orders came very quickly. My wife liked the peameal bacon, but I thought it was dry. Her opinion counts more than mine, though, since she's a peameal-bacon loving Canadian and I'm merely an American expat. But we both agreed that her oven fries were either overcooked or had been left under a hot-lamp for too long because the insides were dry. Her eggs, though, were perfectly done and she really liked the toast. I wasn't sure what to expect with the lumberjack breakfast, but it didn't disappoint. The portion size was so large that it could have been divided among four diners and still be a filling breakfast. Me being who I am, I naturally took it as a challenge to see if I could eat the whole thing. It wasn't a bad experience, either: the pancakes were really good. I added syrup and ketchup, but the layers of melted cheese, different meats, deliciously runny eggs, and fluffy pancakes were already awesome on their own. The meal defeated me. I had two bites left, but I just couldn't eat them. I was hoping for a belly-defying breakfast experience, and that's what I got so, uh... mission accomplished? I ate this meal yesterday afternoon, but was so full that I didn't eat anything the rest of the day and still haven't eaten anything today and it's nearly 24 hours since the meal. So, yeah - it's quite filling. I thought that the signature dish, a six-egg omelet with all the fixings, was a bit much both in quantity (you'd die if you ate that much!) and in price (I'm not paying $24 for a six-egg omelet.) Maybe I'll go back with some friends and split the cost? Signature dish aside, I will be going back for my birthday in June: I want to try the fried chicken and waffles, which apparently is nearly as large a portion as the lumberjack meal I had. Overall? Cold interior (but that may just be the weather); somewhat limited menu; don't order the oven fries; portion sizes are enormous; and everything else was really good. Well worth a visit, though I don't know that I'd want to go during peak breakfast or lunch hours.
Fantastic "Pig" food! You won't be disappointed except with your lack of stomach. I'm a healthy eater... and I don't mean salads. Order a single plate and share it with the wife.
Stopped here for breakfast on a trip and must say it was damn good. The portions are healthy and the meals are tasty. Also best cup of coffee I have had in a while. Highly recommend this place!!!
Our extended family was in town for a family wedding and there were twelve of us to feed. My fears were that the restaurant might be too small for all of us or that the food would not be good. As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about. The restaurant is more spacious than it appears from the outside and we were comfortably seated at two tables of six each. Everyone ordered something different, the food arrived quickly, and no one was disappointed. One person in our group ordered something that the restaurant had just run out of and they were quick to let him know and then offered him a nicer alternative at no additional charge. The service was fast, professional, and friendly. They were great with refills on the drinks.
My DH and I were so impressed that later in the afternoon we went back, just the two of us, for a late lunch. What can I say, we like our breakfast food! My DH declared this to be the best breakfast restaurant food he's had in Canada - and believe me, we've had our fair share across Ontario.
One cool thing is the Omelette Sheet. You simply check off the items you want and presto - your omelette is cooked to your exact specifications.
We even went back the next morning for another great breakfast. Anytime we are back in the Soo we will definitely be back.
